The Ramen Girl

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

I watched The Ramen Girl with Brittany Murphy recently on Netflix Instant. I don’t know if it’s actually good or I was just willing to like anything at the time. If you can just take it for what it is and not delve too deeply into the stereotypes, it’s definitely worth a look. For me it feeds the fantasy of living in another country (not done) and dating someone from another country (done). Don’t watch this entire trailer as it gives too much away, but if you watch half of it, you’ll get the general idea.

Most of what I’ve had to say lately has involved bitching about the economy, being “new poor” and wishing it would get cold enough to turn off the air conditioning. And nobody really needs to hear it…

I posted some more photos from our recent trip to England on my Flickr.

Happy Thursday.

People Will Probably Judge You {Me} For This

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

Today I’m going to feature recommended links that aren’t safe for work. So don’t follow them if you are anywhere near anyone else!

Dlisted – I get all of my “feeling bad about yourself so you seek to vilify others” gossip from this website. I especially like the author’s gay-ohsnap!-bitchy sense of humor.

Stuff White People Like – I don’t find this site racist but the title is pretty provocative. It makes me groan with recognition and laughter.

Yidio – Where you can search for your favorite tv shows and watch them online. Yes, this is probably illegal – certainly it’s illegal for these folks to post them, right? Usually the quality is awful and I’ve gotten one virus blocked, but if you have to watch Gossip Girl before the dvd comes out…

Post Secret – Not exactly scandalous, but I do feel like I shouldn’t be reading these people’s secret thoughts.

Historic Erotic Art – okay a lot of this is silly but a few of these pieces are quite beautiful. I think at least two of the Paul Emile Becat are actually erotic rather than smutty – well they are a bit smutty as well, let’s face it. But don’t you find it fascinating that they had some of this stuff centuries ago?

I should probably stop there – hope you found something worthwile!
